Air humidification
using high-pressure water

Process-matched air humidification – energy-efficient and environment-friendly

Air humidification that does away with fans and pressurized air. This was the idea behind FINESTFOG’s market entry in 2002 with an energy-saving and hygienically impeccable high-pressure air humidification system. Using FINESTFOG’s unique high-pressure nozzles, FINESTFOG systems humidify any spatial volume, discreetly and virtually inaudibly. Today well over 1000 FINESTFOG systems provide an optimal climate for people and materials in production and office spaces in Germany, Europe and the world over.

  • +Improve manufacturing quality

Material shrinkage, quality drop-off, electrostatic charge – accompanied by machine stoppages or high wastage – are indications of inadequate air humidity. Especially in winter, heating and dry outside air tend to lower humidity inside buildings to a worrying level. A FINESTFOG air humidification system keeps air humidity constant at about 50% relative humidity. Electrostatic charge is dissipated. Hygroscopic materials such as wood, paper and textiles can be processed more easily and with high precision.
  • +Save energy

FINESTFOG single-medium nozzles atomize pure water at high pressure. No detours via expensive compressed air, fans or other auxiliary systems. As a consequence, energy requirements are extremely low – only the power required to drive the hydraulic pump.
  • +Cool ambient air

High-pressure humidification always goes hand in hand with cooling – it’s an extremely energy-efficient method of cooling. This is because adiabatic cooling exploits a quirk of nature: water changes its aggregate state when it is atomized. The energy required for this is extracted from the air, so that the air cools down. FINESTFOG systems are used to reduce temperature peaks. In heat-intensive production areas, the temperature can be lowered by as much as 5 °C.
  • +Reduce ill-health and absenteeism

Tiredness, lack of concentration, dry mucous membranes, a weakened immune system – dry indoor air makes people sick. FINESTFOG air humidification binds the fine dust in the air. A controlled room climate is not only important in production areas, but also in offices, exhibition halls and conference rooms. FINESTFOG air humidification systems are VDE- and CE-tested and comply with VDI 6022 standards. A recognized hygiene certificate has also been issued.

The Control unit

Central Controller Unit Air Humidifying FINESTFOG

FINESTFOG attaches great importance to high-quality control systems. Only components from reputable manufacturers like Siemens or Eaton-Möller find their way into our switching cabinets. FINESTFOG control units are offered in two versions:

Eaton-Möller – controller for fully automated control of up to 6 humidifier zones and a maximum humidification performance of 780 litres per hour. Comprises Eaton-Möller PLC, operator display and frequency converter.

Siemens S 7 – the most user-friendly controller, based on a Siemens SPS S7. Up to 8 zones can be humidified. The SIMATIC HMI KP 700 touch panel (7") displays all operating parameters. The controller unit includes a data logger, an operating hours counter for each zone, trend analysis and numerous other auxiliary functions. Options range from remote monitoring to data transfer to a facility management system. Consult our specialists for available configuration variants.

The Pump

High Pressure Pump Air Humdifying FINESTFOG

The high-pressure pump generates a uniform pressure (80 bar) to supply pressurized water to the individual humidification zones. Available pump ratings range from 120 to 780 litres/hour. Motor and pump rpm are controlled via the pressure sensor and the frequency converter. The pump only delivers as much water as is needed at any moment. This saves energy and wear and tear on the pump.

The nozzle

High Pressure Nozzles Finesfog

The FINESTFOG single-medium nozzle is at the heart of every FINESTFOG system. Crafted from high-quality stainless steel and hand finished, each nozzle is engraved to identify it as designed and produced exclusively for FINESTFOG.

The ingenious inner workings, the special bore and precision hand finishing together produce the unique atomization performance. The nozzle atomizes water into finest aerosols capable of being rapidly taken up by the air. A check spring reliably prevents water dripping.

FINESTFOG nozzles are available in six sizes:

Model Bore diameter Humidification:
litres/hour
1.0 100 µm 1.1
1.5 150 µm 2.0
2.0 200 µm 3.0
2.2 220 µm 4.6
2.5 250 µm 6.3
2.7 270 µm 8.4

Nozzle 1.0 is used chiefly in areas with low ceilings or in relatively small rooms. Model 1.5 can be used in areas with almost any dimensions. Models
2.2, 2.5 and 2.7 with their very high throughput are ideal for duct humidification in air conditioning systems.

FINESTFOG nozzles deliver such fine aerosols that they need neither fans nor compressed air. The nozzles are screwed directly into an unobtrusive, ¼" stainless steel pipe. For an even more flexible system, the nozzles can be connected to a joint that is free to rotate (see photo). The water pipes can be mounted on walls, under the ceiling, on cable conduits, on laminated beams or double T-beams. The same simple installation options are also used in humidity chambers.

FINESTFOG nozzles are not only almost noiseless, they are also almost invisible. As such they fit in easily with any office or living space.
